Today our mother is 60 years old. She is beautiful, smart, and healthy. She works hard every day, serves diligently and quietly in her church callings, and provides endless love and support to all her children and grandchildren. She loves her husband and stands by him through the good and bad times.
She is a rock in the storm of life - quietly and confidently trusting her core values and using that example to lift us up in times of need. I remember as a little boy in Primary singing the words "Her plea to the Father quiets all my fears." I would clearly and easily picture my mom praying for us. As I think back to that time, I can't begin to describe how lucky I feel to have been raised by someone who loved me so much that she would pray for me. And I know she still does.
I hope she knows we love her. While she seeks no recognition, I hope she knows that her hard work, teaching and suffering on our behalf has not gone by unnoticed or unappreciated. And on this very special day, I hope she has a happy birthday.
