Yep, she asked 20 of them for her birthday. Rachel outsmarted us this year by putting in writing what she "reeeeally" wants and we were happily informed that we can join her too "and have a happy time with me!" As always, she arrived on her birthday with a huge smile and big hopes that her dreams will come true (excitement that has been building over the past several weeks, counting down the days to November 9).
She is the sweetest, most talkative being ever and we're very grateful for having her in our house. Rachel still likes to giggle, dance and flutter all day long - now with Andrew in tow, We'll miss our four year old, but we 're happy and open to her new 5 year old personality, and her daily wisdom that comes with it! Even if that requires the completion of 20 loooong wishes. Oh my, here she goes:
-
Go to Toys-R-Us and pick a toy. We actually agreed in advance about no more than $5.00 to spend there - otherwise we'll ended up being robbed our souls (and our bank account) at this “children’s heaven.” I think she’s slobbering by just the thought of it.
-
Go to the park for a picnic and play with THE giant ball. Aunt Shari gave us a huge plastic beach ball with 2007 family reunion packages and since them it’s just a reasonable request to use it a any Texas park (Glad she didn’t ask to go to a real beach. Close one!)
-
Birthday party with friends AND family at Gatti-Town. She officially joined to other kids on their dreams pursuit of going to arcades… another "kids’ heaven," you know. The good news it is that after she reaches this milestone, we will rest assured in knowing that she‘s developing perfectly normal.
-
Go out for ice cream.
-
Go to IHOP for a special Smiley Face Pancake dessert. No explanation needed.
-
Have different kinds of popsicles, four at least! She was very specific with the flavors too: crunchy chocolate covered vanilla, sandwiches, bi-colored chocolate bars, and for sure the fruity-rainbow ones.
-
Get endless shrimp just like we see on the TV commercials. Some local restaurants run this promotion a couple times a year and for a while Rachel has been reminding us about it. How can you not agree, eh? It’s the perfect wish I must add - we’re a family of sea food lovers, anyway.
-
Have THE yummy chocolate overload mini-cake from Jack-in-the-Box. She’s right you should give it a try.
-
Open presents and play with balloons. And play with balloons. Did she asked for balloons again!?
-
Have dinner at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. GRANTED!!! And completed with a big fudge-frosting chocolate cake, ice cream and Grandpa Keith’s homemade strawberries sauce. She ate to her heart content so as we. (Translation: a lot.)
-
Go bowling and eat french fries there.
-
Go to Claire and Helen’s school and have Turkey feast lunch with them. Every year the girls school put this together around this time of year. And surprisingly it’s very well done.
-
Have doughnuts and strawberry milk for breakfast. It was a sight to see: “Delicioso!” she mouthed out every time she chomped a bite down.
-
Go to pre-school today. Like NOW. She’s eager to start school so it makes sense for her to repeat it until we got it very clear.
-
Go to ballerina and tap classes soon. She‘s still in the fairy/flutter stage so no questions asked here.
-
Go on different dates with Grandma and Grandpa. She’s high expectations as you see in asking a one-on-one quality time. “You would do the same too knowing that your sweet grandparents live around the corner, right Mom?" Rachel is a very, very lucky girl.
-
Madagascar movie with Mom. At the last minute we decided that Wall-e at the dollar theater. Great bargain choice little girl!
-
Two dates with Mom and Dad. Separately of course, she definitely got the hand of rightly dating us!
-
Brownies, hot chocolate and a princess movie! Oh, and pop-corn!
-
Go on a ride at the carousel at the mall. DUH!
20 and a half: “Did you already write more balloons, Mom?”
We love her very much and wish for her all the health, happiness and fun that her petite, cute body can handle. Being a Rachel involves a lot of snuggling time and we certainly can grant her with this right away - and at her command. But while the next stage of her pixie life is being revealed to her, we'll try to work (slooow but steady) on her wish list. We'll ALSO hope that Santa Claus would help out with some of her requests. We "reeeeally" do!
Or else, we'll be in trouble.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SWEET RACHEL!
