  • Waiting for Santa

My mom and dad took us to see Santa's arrival and the Christmas tree lighting ceremony in Allen (which is about 5 minutes away from Plano where we live). It was really cold but we enjoyed very much all the planned activities around it: we had a few too many cups of hot cocoa, cookies handed out by no other than Mrs. Santa Claus, sang silly texans songs, and to warm up a bit, we stayed put in front of an stage where the tree lighting countdown was about to happen . Here are some pictures of the...

  • October Surprise

Jenny came to town for conference weekend. She knitted some hats for the girls while we listened to the Good News from Salt Lake. Andrew then used one of the hats to hold up a local 7-Eleven.
  • Fall Festival at the Arboretum

Now that it's not a billion degrees outside we took the kids to spend a Saturday afternoon at the Dallas Arboretum. It is really an amazing place. We brought a picnic and spent hours exploring the many gardens, pumpkin displays, the pioneer village and more. Last year at this time we went with Jeff and Meredith's family. This year, although it was tough, we managed to still have a good time. When I stroll through this place I like to imagine it's my private backyard attached to my multi...

  • It's Great to be Eight!

Ñapymi Y'py = Go under the water (Baptism in Guarani language) This is exactly what happened last Saturday, when we went to the Church with the whole family in tow: Grandparents, Aunt Brittney, all extended family living in the area and tons of family friends. We witnessed Claire going under the water! Yep, after 2 months from the original date, we finally push down our Claire to the road of becoming another LDS member. It was a sunny day, and of course a beautiful ceremony. So she was...

  • While Grandma Marti was away...

Last Friday our Grandma went to visit great Grandpa Jessie in Illinois. As soon she left, we quickly came to the rescue. It wasn't a happy situation being left behind so we dutifully called Grandpa Keith to check on him... And check on his our plans for the weekend. This is how it went: Hi, how are you, Grandpa? "Good" What are you going to do when Grandma's gone? "Not much" pause for two seconds and an half "Want to come and have a party" Well, we're in...
  • Plane at the Park

We've been saving for a while and finally bought our my very own foam airplane. We took turns throwing it, but since I really got the toy for me I ended up doing most of the throwing while the kids did the running. The girls said "Daddy's making such a big effort, lets help him." They thought they were doing me a favor by doing the exercises themselves. Lucky me! Click here for some fun pictures.

  • Afternoon at American Girl

Grandma Marti, Aunt Brittney and I got to take Claire and Helen to the American Girl store for their birthday the other day. We had a delicious meal and had a great time exploring the store. Click the picture below to see more.
  • IT'S OFFICIAL: We're Teenie Weenies!

For a few years now, my Grandpa Keith has told me about a incredible living world in the backyard of great-Grandpa Earl's house. His Dad used to tell these tales to him and his siblings when they were little kids. After exchanging a few letters with Grandpa Earl, he sent me stories of the Teenie Weenie people, their daily lives and of course, their amazing adventures. It's all about how little people can survive in such a big world, with lawn mowers and human shoes all over. Well, today it's...

  • Singing Christmas Morning

We took a bunch of video clips during our Christmas vacation to Keith and Marti's house with Justin and Jenny's family, but haven't had a chance to edit & post any of them. I finally found some software that works well with the camera's video file format, so here's the first of the series. This clip shows Claire, Helen, Rachel and Alice on Christmas morning singing a few songs before opening presents. I had brought them over in front of the tree to snap a few pictures in their...

  • Claire's One-Member-Only Book Club's Update: What's Up?

What book " am I reading since I graduated from Hogwarts?" Long after I finished with J. K. Rowling's book series, the five movies and everything related to Harry Potter's toys and games, some people ask me that question frequently. So, I think that this post will clear things up. The book that I'm now reading is called "Anne of Green Gables," written by L. M. Montgomery. It's a classic and a girlie one. It's about a thirteen year old girl, who has many dangerous...

  • Bootleg Video: Claire's Talk in Primary

A couple Sundays ago Claire gave a talk in Church . For the first time she wrote it all on her own. It was about the Plan of Salvation. It included musical support from her sisters, cousin Alice, and Grandma Marti, and visual aids with the help of her Mommy and Daddy. Clyde, always living on the edge, snuck in her camera and got this exclusive what-was-she-thinking! incomplete video: [PostIcon]http://img.youtube.com/vi/FwFQuYqB1Rk/default.jpg[/PostIcon]

  • Bath-Time Quote #47

Yesterday evening Clyde and I left the kids in Grandma and Grandpa's expert care while we did some Christmas shopping. Grandma helped the girls take a bath, but since they didn’t need to wash their hair she let them use shower caps. Claire caught a glimpse of herself in the mirror and observed, "I look like a naked lunch-lady."

  • Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Thursday, July 19, 2007, at 5:00:00 pm, I closed the last page of book number 6. Let me tell you just one thing: What a book! So much to learn and enjoy at the same time. I read this book in record time: less than a month! All because I want to welcome the new one with a fresh mind. And thinking that "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" is being release in two days (July 21, at midnight) and it's the last of the series, I'm planning to be ready full speed for this "Harry...

  • Harry Potter Update: The Movie!

Last Friday I took my Daddy on a date to see the latest Harry Potter and The Order of the Phoenix. I promised to take him for his 30th birthday. It was his special present and of course along came Grandpa Keith... in a heart beat. Our little party couldn't be complete without him. We sat in the very front row, and while waiting we munched on some chicken strips, french fries and soda - you know, to get warmed up. Then as things really got good we topped it off with some licorace and peanut M&M's...
