  • October Surprise

Jenny came to town for conference weekend. She knitted some hats for the girls while we listened to the Good News from Salt Lake. Andrew then used one of the hats to hold up a local 7-Eleven.
  • Fall Festival at the Arboretum

Now that it's not a billion degrees outside we took the kids to spend a Saturday afternoon at the Dallas Arboretum. It is really an amazing place. We brought a picnic and spent hours exploring the many gardens, pumpkin displays, the pioneer village and more. Last year at this time we went with Jeff and Meredith's family. This year, although it was tough, we managed to still have a good time. When I stroll through this place I like to imagine it's my private backyard attached to my multi...

  • Eschez Move 20, Day 132

So it's been 132 days since I received Brian's last move in our game of chess. You may remember, I publicly challenged Brian to a game and he accepted. The loser of this game has to do 100 pushups on video and post it on this site. The only rule I set was no cheating. What I failed to set were any sort of time limits. Granted, he's in a bit of a bind, but you'd think by now he would have thought of something. Or maybe he has... he can't lose a game that never ends. And so I wait...

So join with me today as we wish him a very happy birthday. When we consider how much happiness he has brought to our...

  • Plane at the Park

We've been saving for a while and finally bought our my very own foam airplane. We took turns throwing it, but since I really got the toy for me I ended up doing most of the throwing while the kids did the running. The girls said "Daddy's making such a big effort, lets help him." They thought they were doing me a favor by doing the exercises themselves. Lucky me! Click here for some fun pictures.

  • Doug, you don't look so good...

A while ago I was on a car trip with Greg, Keith and Jeff. Greg had his computer with him and we were playing some 3D shooter. After a few minutes I didn't feel so hot, but Greg encouraged me, "Keep going, you'll be okay in a minute." A few minutes later I told him I really needed to stop. "Here, take one of these," Greg offered as he fished out some motion sickness pill. Curiously though he had been poking me in the side for the past few miles too. "Uh, okay,"...

  • Fort Worth Alliance Air Show

On Saturday, September 30 we took the kids to the Fort Worth Alliance Air Show. It was a two day event, but we just attended for one afternoon. We walked around several of the planes on display including eight or so F-16’s, an F-18, F-15, A-10, C-130 and more. We also saw the major show of the day performed by the USAF Thunderbirds. I took a few pictures and a couple short video clips, but was disappointed when I reviewed my footage. I realized that rather than trying to capture some of the...
